The Journey
In this work, a running human figure from an aboriginal petroglyph is situated within an illustration depicting planetary phases relative to the Sun. The figure is on a journey through life, pulled along as if attached to a puppeteer’s strings. In the background can be seen characters from the language of the Micmac, a large Native American tribe that lived in Canada and the Northeast United States. A European missionary invented the pictographic script, which is structured similarly to Egyptian hieroglyphics.
